LNG industry supporting students at local Careers Expo

The Gladstone Careers Expo is an annual event held at the CQUniversity Marina Campus, Gladstone and features a wide range of information and trade demonstration stalls, making it the perfect platform for students wanting to learn more about career and education pathway opportunities. This years’ expo was held earlier in May and saw approximately 700 students from 14 Gladstone schools.

EQIP Gladstone Inc has been the lead organisation of the expo since 2016. EQIP is an independent not for profit organisation that has been operating in the Gladstone Region since 2009.

Field Trainer and Assessor, Rodney Jurd along with Operations Technician Jordan Roper, Maintenance Trainee Shaeli Carty and Community Relations Adviser Samantha Redshaw attended the expo and met with many students looking at a career in the Oil and Gas industry. It was a wonderful opportunity for the students to speak with trained GLNG personnel to get a real understanding of what a career in the industry would look like.

Community Relations Adviser, Samantha Redshaw said it was wonderful to see so many Gladstone students looking at potentially joining the industry.

“It is wonderful to see students increasingly looking toward jobs in renewable and clean energy sources”.

Santos GLNG provides excellent opportunities for growth and development through the early career pathway programs including a Summer Vacation Program, Graduate Program, and the Indigenous Undergraduate Cadetship Program.

This partnership demonstrates the LNG industry’s commitment to providing insight into career pathways in the oil and gas sector and encourages young people to pursue STEM career pathways.
