The hard-working team of Santos engineers and operators have been recognised for an 'amazing job' in the Australian Financial Review and in local Gladstone media, for ensuring continued gas supply to Central Queensland following the recent Jemena pipeline incident.
Santos GLNG is now facilitating the delivery of approximately 85 TJ/d to Central Queensland to meet the needs of critical industrial and retail projects, including the region's hospitals.
The response involved redirecting gas from Santos GLNG pipeline into the Queensland Gas Pipeline and reversing flow, something that had never been done before. This required extensive re-engineering of the network to allow gas to flow in the opposite direction from the Santos GLNG pipeline to the QGP, avoiding impacts to local manufacturers.
Congratulating all teams for their efforts, Stephen Harty, Santos GLNG CEO said, "Our rapid response has meant Santos GLNG is now facilitating the delivery of approximately 85 TJ/d to Central Queensland to meet the needs of critical industrial and retail projects, including the region's hospitals."
Reiterating Santos' support for the local communities in which we operate, Brett Darley, Executive Vice President Eastern Australia and Papua New Guinea said, "I want to express my sincere thanks to all involved for an outstanding result - including our GLNG JV partners, Westside and Jemena in facilitating supply for Australia Pacific LNG customers.
"Santos will always support our fellow Queenslanders when needed, particularly the local communities in which we operate."
Jemena's pipeline incident has had no impact to Santos GLNG infrastructure or operations.
