Santos GLNG have successfully commissioned a 100kW solar panel system at the Pipeline Operations Centre (POC) in Gladstone (Queensland) which produces a renewal energy solution.
The 100kW-panel solar system covers most of the roof space of the POC and will generate more than 160 megawatt hours of energy annually.
The generated environmental benefits are equivalent to 3260 trees per annum, 54,148 litres of petrol, 61539 kg of coal per year saved plus a reduction of 150 tonne of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere per annum.
The project included the design, procurement, and installation of a large-scale solar solution and most importantly, getting it connected to the grid in a safe and compliant manner. The solar solution demonstrates the JV’s progress against our Powering Progress ambition and to deliver value with less emissions.
Now that the POC, The Marine Operations Terminal (MOT), and Gas Transmission Pipeline (GTP) are now being powered by solar, these GLNG mainland assets are effectively carbon neutral.
